Have you heard of the Poseidon Spa at the Plant Riverside District in Savannah, Georgia? Well, it is not surprising if you have not since it is so new. That is why I am here to tell you all about it. It is a super new luxury spa that just opened in Savannah recently. The Plant Riverside District blends the best of yesterday and today and then adds a luxury spa right in the middle of it all! How great is that?

Plant Riverside District

When one visits Savannah there is much to see and do. The Plant Riverside District not only adds to all that Savannah holds, but also gives you an amazing place to call home base while you are in the city. There is also a brand new J.W. Marriott Savannah located there and it awaits your arrival to relax and enjoy your vacation. I hope to stay there myself one day too. I was pretty impressed by my little tour there recently.

The Plant Riverside District opened July 29, 2020 and is part of the Kessler Collection.

While there of course I visited the brand spanking new Poseidon Spa. I hated that I missed the spa manager on my visit, but their staff took great care of us. This new boutique size spa offers everything you could desire to make your trip a little less stressful. We all know that vacation can be stressful and a massage is the perfect way to make it more seamless. The hotel offers activities for the little ones and offers you the perfect way to get away for some me time!

During my time at the Poseidon Spa, I enjoyed a Custom Facial. It is a classic European-style facial that is customized for your own skin’s own needs. It starts with a complete cleansing, a toner, any needed exfoliation and extractions. Then you get a customized treatment mask that is the perfect way to hydrate winter’s dry skin. You will see and feel immediate results.

Poseidon Spa at Plant Riverside District is the premium spa destination of choice, for locals and travelers alike. It offers a comforting relaxation space right in the middle of all the action.

Graffito Pizza

If spa time makes you hungry (as sometimes it does) - head over to the pizzeria right hear the spa. The Graffito pizza restaurant is everything a pizzaria should be. It also has amazing service too. From the host area to our server, we were extremely well taken care of (especially for a pizza place). I would enjoy a meal there anytime.

You immediately know when you walk in and see a real pizza oven something good is about to happen!

Spa Travel Gal's Margherita Pizza was bringing back memories of New York’s Little Italy and the electric decor was so much fun. I saw every type of diner enjoying themselves here from couples to families. Don’t miss this place if you make your way to the Plant Riverside District.

One expects pizza to be amazing at a pizza parlour, but I was surprised at their extentise and impressive wine, beer and cocktail list. As a wine snob sometimes, I was so pleased with their selection. Take your group here for the night and enjoy all that it offers.

HISTORIC TRANSFORMATION

After more than 100 years, Savannah has reunited with its beloved river once again in a vibrant, riverfront entertainment destination offering luxury hotel stays, incredible dining, wine tasting, and high-end shopping. But to reach this point, it took quite a transformation.

The site’s original 1912 power plant has been restored with the preservation of historic characteristics like the iconic twin smokestacks and brick exterior, and repurposed with the addition of hotel rooms and mixed-use space. Flanking either side are two new buildings, also featuring hotel rooms, restaurants, lounges, and meeting space. Along its shoreline, over a quarter-mile of riverwalk has been created.

Today the plant and its surrounding district generates a new kind of energy for the citizens and visitors of Savannah, bringing electric experiences once again to the riverfront.

RECHARGING SAVANNAH

The grounds on which Plant Riverside District stands have been a significant part of Savannah’s story for centuries—but at the turn of the 20th century, a new problem arose. The city was growing at such a rate, officials worried they would not have the capabilities to power it by the end of 1912. A solution was in order.

Thanks to the pioneering spirit of George Baldwin, and engineers from Stone & Webster, that solution was found along the Savannah River with the ambitious plans for Riverside Station. Starting in 1912, the electric power plant would become the most efficient plant in the south at its time. It would continue to power Savannah for more than 92 years before its decommissioning in 2005.

Today, the plant is powering Savannah once again with high-energy entertainment, dining, retail and luxury hotel rooms on the riverfront. What stands now represents the beauty of progress—connecting history to present, Savannah's legendary river with its storied community, and all who visit, to the generations of our future.

If one is looking to be entertained, this is definitely the place for all. There are things for all ages. This makes it sounds like a theme park and you may very well feel like you are at one on a Saturday night. They have special entertainers outside to entertain those staying at the district or any where in Savannah for the night.

This riverfront location takes us almost 3 city blocks and has 3 different addresses to call home. Make sure to plan accordingly for which section is most important to you. Parking can be an issue in this area, especially for pick-up trucks. Take friends or family and have an amazing time.

Plant Riverside District in Savannah is a center of entertainment. Be inspired by all the art, food and activity. Be electricfied by the atmosphere and imagery. This historical power plant is now recharging Savannah and its visitors from around the world.
