For the past 10 months or so, times have been so insanely crazy and totally not normal due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. As cases rise in the US, there is always a possibility of another shut down. It’s unknown what’s going to happen in the future, but all you can really do is prepare for the unexpected. Luckily, the vaccine is coming and I’m hoping for a bit of normalcy within the next year or so. Also, remember to wear a mask and practice social distancing for the safety of you and the people around you.
I’ve put together a list of activities that could cure potential bordeom if we’re all stuck inside again. Or, if you’re back to work and just looking for a new hobby these are some perfect ideas as well.
Learn a new language
Have you always wanted to learn a new language or just brush up from your language class you look in middle/high school? It’s the perfect time. Duolingo is a really helpful tool with so many languages to learn including: Spanish, French, German, Latin, Sweedish, Dutch and more! Learn something new at your own pace!
Join masterclass
Masterclass is a website where you can learn from the professionals. Want to learn more about photography? How to write a successful book? Learn new cooking skills? They have a class for that. Some of the professionals are Gordon Ramsay, Anna Wintour, Natalie Portman, RuPaul and so many more. I joined over the last couple months and it’s so interesting to hear their personal stories from very successful people. I learned new techniques on how to make my writing better from R.L. Stein and James Patterson. I was so motivated and inspired while watching short 10-15 minute lessons. These classes come with a payment before you watch them.
Learn how to paint
I found fun paint by numbers (you are given paint pallets and a large canvas and you go on the hunt for numbers to paint with the coordinated color) on Amazon and it takes a while to get a final picture. I usually get pretty landscapes or a view of a famous city. Most of them range from $15-$25. Or, if you’re feeling inspired to create your own masterpiece, go out and purchase a white canvas and your favorite colors. Who knows, you might surprise yourself on how good of a painter you are!
Binge a show with 6+ seasons on Netflix
Netflix has so many options that you’re bound to find something that you just can’t stop watching. Whether you're into comedies or dramas, Netflix adds new shows very frequently.
Perfect shows to watch with more than 6 seasons or more: Supernatural, Greys Anatomy, The Office, Parks and Recreation, Friends, Gossip Girl, and The Vampire Diaries. All the shows I’ve just talked about are streaming on Netflix. However, some might be taken off the streaming site soon.
Create a blog
Do you know a lot about a certain topic? Have an interesting family history? Write about it! Write about anything whether it be a daily entry, what you ate that day, or just your favorite things… someone might find it interesting.
Listen to your favorite musical artists entire discography
We all have a favorite music artist, so why not sit back and relax and just listen to their entire discography? Listening to an artist like The Beatles, Elton John or Madonna, it’s going to take you some time to go through all their albums. Who knows, maybe you’ll find a song you forgot you loved or even a new one you haven’t heard.
Get crafty
Being creative can always be fun! Find things around your home or purchase some fun crafts online to decorate your house! The holidays are just around the corner, there are so many crafts that can be done this time of year! Pinterest always has great ideas.
Go to another country… virtually
The Arts & Culture part of Google offers virtual tours of exhibits at various museums, 360 views from famous landmarks all around the world, interesting facts about artists/art, interactive activities and so much more. Or, you could simply use Google Maps to explore someplace new.
Check in on your friends/family
For loved ones that live alone, it can get lonely, especially since we’re living in a pandemic. It’s always a good idea to check in on your friends and family to see what they're up to or how they’re spending their time inside. Who knows… they might be up to playing a fun game over FaceTime or Zoom. I’ve done this earlier in the year and it was so fun! We played hangman.
