Metro Detroit set to receive an extra 1-2 inches of snowfall
Throughout Monday evening, Southeastern Michigan is set to receive an extra 1-2 inches of snowfall.
The snowfall will begin after 7 p.m. and start to wane early Tuesday morning around 4 a.m.
Canada confirms cases of COVID-19 omicron variant
Over the weekend, Canada announced two cases of the COVID omicron variant in Ottawa linked to travel from Nigeria.
The new variant was identified last week by researchers in South Africa, and it is still not known whether it is more contagious, more likely to cause serious illness or more able to evade the protection of vaccines.
Michigan gas prices remain higher than they were in 2020
According to AAA, the price of a gallon of gas in Michigan is still $1.37 higher than it was last year.
As a result of the COVID-19 omicron variant, more overseas lockdowns and rising case totals will be common, leading to a decrease in fuel prices.
'Vaccine' declared as Merriam-Webster's 2021 word of the year
Merriam-Webster has recently declared "vaccine" as its 2021 word of the year.
According to Peter Sokolowski, Merriam-Webster's editor-at-large, "This was a word that was extremely high in our data every single day in 2021."
