(DETROIT, Mich.) Hello and welcome to this Friday's edition of the Detroit daily Round-Up. Another week has gone by, yet this rain just refuses to go away. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Today is Friday, October 15, let's check out Detroit's biggest stories of the day.
During a recent story about Detroit’s Chandler Skatepark, WDIV-Detroit reporter Victor Williams, who was covering the park, rode around on a skateboard during a live broadcast.
In a tweet, Williams said "In all seriousness - as a child, I would have killed for a new park and mentors in the skateboarding community. Glad to see it’s happening in Detroit."
Following the results of a recent investigation, the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), Child Care Licensing Bureau (CCLB), has suspended the family child care home license of Vagula Aroulselvam, Mithu Home Day Care in Canton.
In a press release, LARA said “It was critical to take emergency action to protect the health, welfare, and safety of the children at this family child care home."
Republican candidate Tudor Dixon recently sat down for an interview with WDIV-Detroit to discuss her state gubernatorial campaign.
Currently, Dixon is one of 11 GOP candidates looking to unseat current Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in 2022.
On Thursday evening, the Detroit Red Wings suffered a 7-6 loss in their season opener against the Tampa Bay Lightning at home.
Little Caesars Arena was packed with fans, and last night's game marked the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic that a full stadium had been possible.
