Walmart-Owned Enterprise Expands Presence: New Distribution Center in Minnesota Promises Job Growth and Enhanced Service
Sam's Club, the Walmart-owned warehouse club retailer, plans to open a new distribution center in Minnesota next month.
A new 365,000-square-foot distribution center will open in Shakopee, Minnesota, about 30 minutes southwest of Minneapolis. It will create 80 new jobs and provide "noticeable increases in speed and availability of products both in club and online."
"We’re excited to extend our supply chain network and capabilities for our clubs and members in the region. We’re designing our supply chain network to strengthen our omnichannel experience and increase efficiencies and delivery speed to wherever our members decide to shop with us and receive their products." Sam’s Club SVP of Supply Chain Joseph Godsey
Hourly associate hiring for the center has begun. Walmart currently employs more than 24,000 associates in Minnesota.
Sam’s Club opened its first warehouse club store in 1983 and now has 600 locations in the United States.
