Skydiving Governor: Abbott's Airborne Adventure Sparks Controversy over Leadership Priorities
It was an unusual Monday morning for Texas Gov. Greg Abbott as he jumped out of a plane with a 106-year-old World War II veteran.
Abbott skydived with World War II veteran Al Blaschke and thankfully, both landed safely. Blaschke skydived for the first time on his 100th birthday and broke a world record in 2020 when he became the oldest man to perform a tandem parachute jump.
He broke the world record again today with his tandem jump with Gov. Abbott.
While the jump got a lot of media attention, many were critical of the Texas Governor and took to social media platform X to share their thoughts.
"Greg is all about the stunts, isn’t he?" @LachatteFiona·4h
"Most people had to work today. Greg Abbott gets to jump out of planes." @zivinilee
"Sounds like a great use of tax dollars." @GoFrogYourself
"Hard at work, I see." @skzatopek
Do you believe Gov. Abbott should have jumped out of the plane? Do you think it was a stunt to gather media attention? Should he have been working? Or do you think it was a great initiative and supports the community?
