Alabama BBQ Landmark Calls It Quits: Legendary Restaurant Shuts Down After 86-Year Run
A popular barbecue restaurant in Birmingham, Alabama, has announced it will permanently close next month.
Lloyd's opened in Birmingham in 1937 and will close on October 16th after 86 years of serving the community. They made the announcement on Facebook.
"We want to express our sincere gratitude to each and every one of you for allowing us to be a part of your lives through dining experiences at our Inverness location. Your support and patronage have meant the world to us. We would like to thank our staff, past and present, for helping make Lloyd’s a truly special place and for providing so many wonderful dining experiences for our customers."
The news was met with disappointment by customers who flooded the comment section on the post.
"Oh no! Lloyd's can't close!! I remember eating at their Old Highway 280 location back in the day!! Back in the day would be the 70's!I loved the huge glasses of sweet tea! And the best (greasiest) onion rings around! Great memories going there with my family!"
"ANOTHER LANDMARK/STAPLE GONE. This has been my favorite restaurant for years and years (amazing livers)."

The good news is the Sylacauga location, about 25 miles from Birmingham, will remain open.
