Amazon's Call for Talent: Thousands of New Workers Wanted in Houston

E-commerce giant Amazon has launched a hiring spree in Texas before the holiday period.

Amazon wants to hire 28,000 people in Texas across full-time, seasonal, and part-time roles. Over 5,000 of these positions will be in the Houston area across Harris, Fort Bend, Galveston, and Montgomery counties. The company has advised these could lead to permanent work.

On average, customer fulfillment and transportation employees can earn more than $20.50 an hour — an increase of $1.50 over last year. Some new hires will be eligible for bonuses ranging from $1,000 to $3,000.

Whether someone is looking for a short-term way to make extra money, or is hoping to take their first step toward a fulfilling and rewarding career at Amazon, there’s a role available for them. A fulfillment or transportation employee who starts with us today will see a 13% increase in pay over the next three years—likely more, including our annual wage investments—and that’s on top of offerings like pre-paid college tuition with Career Choice and health care benefits on day one." John Felton, Amazon’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations

Amazon currently has 88,000 employees in Texas.
