The 2023 James Beard Award winner for Oustanding Restaurant in the United States was Friday Saturday Sunday in Philadelphia.
The James Beard Awards have been held each year since 1991 to recognize those in the food, beverage, and hospitality industry that exemplify the James Beard Foundation's core value of "champion[ing] a standard of good food anchored in talent, equity, and sustainability."
They are considered among the most prestigious awards in the American food industry and highly sought after. This year Philadelphia restaurant, Friday Saturday Sunday, won the Outstanding Restaurant Award. The award is given to "a restaurant that demonstrates consistent excellence in food, atmosphere, hospitality, and operations while contributing positively to its broader community."
The restaurant stood on Rittenhouse Street for over 40 years before it was purchased and renovated by current owners, Chad and Hanna Williams. The couple is certainly passionate about their restaurant- they were married in the restaurant's kitchen!
The restaurant describes itself as:
"Seasonally inspired and rooted in classics, with each dish bearing its own mark of creativity. Expect Friday Saturday Sunday's complex flavor and precision paired with luxury ingredients. Our full wine and cocktail list will be available to complement your dinner. A truly special occasion for guests old and new."
They offer an eight-course tasting menu for $155 per person. Reviews from customers are overwhelmingly positive, with an average of 4.7-star ratings on Google and 4.5 stars on Yelp.
