Discount wholesale club to open its first location in Tennessee.
Great news for shoppers in the Nashville area, with the news that national discount wholesale club BJ's will open a new location 20 miles southeast of downtown Nashville in Rutherford County on June 14.
BJ's is a rival wholesale club to Sam's Club, owned by Walmart. This will be the discount wholesale club's first location in Tennessee, and it is expected to open in the first half of 2023. the company currently operates 235 clubs and 164 BJ's Gas locations in 18 states- Tennessee marks the 19th state for BJ's.
The club will include a BJ's gas station, fresh foods and produce, a full-service deli, household essentials, and pet supplies. In addition, members can save up to 25% off grocery store prices every day on everything they need for weekly shopping.
"We can’t wait to open our doors to the La Vergne community at BJ’s brand-new club. We’re thrilled to be a part of this momentous occasion as BJ’s Wholesale Club expands into the state of Tennessee, bringing the unbeatable value and incredible savings to our newest members in Rutherford County. Our entire team is extremely proud to have this remarkable opportunity and impact the communities where we work and live in a positive way." Christopher Kelly, club manager of La Vergne’s BJ’s Wholesale Club
The store, located at 543 Industrial Blvd, is partnering with a local food bank to donate unsold food.
"We are grateful for the support from BJ’s Wholesale Club. As we enter the summer months, many children, who rely on schools for healthy and nutritious meals, may lose access to these services. Food insecurity is a real concern to children and families in Middle and West Tennessee, and the generosity of BJ’s Wholesale Club will help us feed thousands of children who otherwise would not receive essential meals this summer." Nancy Keil, president and CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee
The store has created 150 new jobs in the local community.
As inflation causes grocery rises to increase, joining a wholesale club such as BJ's or Sam's Club is an excellent way for families to save money.
It is also welcome news for a retail industry hit hard this year by bankruptcies, store closures, and layoffs.
