Sad news for residents of Hartland, Michigan with the news that an iconic burger restaurant is closing in a few days.

The owners of the Big Boy restaurant announced the news on their Facebook page.

"The time has come for us to bid farewell to the place that has been our second home, where countless memories were made and laughter filled the air. We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to all of you who have supported us throughout the years." Big Boy owners Nick and Jean Shaieb

The Big Boy located at 10587 Highland Road/M-59 in the township, is the last remaining Big Boy in Livingston County. The Shaiebs have been running the restaurant since it first opened in 1982 and closing the restaurant so they can retire.

The restaurant will be open across the Memorial Day weekend and will close in the afternoon on Memorial Day.

Ever since making the announcement the restaurant has been busy and many customers have taken to sharing their memories on the Facebook page.

"Everybody in the community has come out in the last few days. We're overwhelmed. It's ironic, because that is part of the reason I need to get out was I can't handle those busy, busy days, and that's all I have done in the end." Nick Shaieb.
