The retail apocalypse continues across the United States, with Walmart announcing more store closures, including one in Everett, Washington.
Sad news for shoppers in Everett, Washington, with confirmation that the Walmart at 11400 Highway 99 will close on April 21.
It is another blow to residents in Washington, who have faced a number of retail store closures this year, with more set to come.
Walmart is closing several stores across the United States as "unfortunately, some do not meet our financial expectations. While our underlying business is strong, these specific stores haven’t performed as well as we hoped.”
Local retailers at the strip mall were disappointed with the news, with some stating they relied on Walmart to drive customers to them.
The store opened in 2006 and employed 198 people who will be offered the opportunity to move to another Walmart location. The Walmart Supercenter at 1605 SE Everett Mall Way will remain open.
