Good news for people in Dallas County with some great job opportunities opening up with Walmart.
The retail giant is opening a 730,000-square-foot automated grocery distribution center south of Dallas in Lancaster this year and has 500 new jobs that need filling.
The new distribution center will be twice as productive as its traditional e-commerce fulfillment centers and grocery distribution centers that supply stores, according to Walmart. The use of technology will replace most of the heavy lifting and the center will fulfill the needs of local Walmart stores and is expected to open in the fall.
The new jobs will pay between $20 to $34 an hour.
There is also a second 1.5-million-square foot online fulfillment center next door that isn’t open yet but will fill customer general merchandise orders and also create another 500 jobs. Jobs for the second fulfillment center have not been advertised yet but will provide even more opportunities for locals.
Applications:
Prospective applicants can apply in person to speak with a Walmart manager from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, February 7th at the office of Workforce Solutions in RedBird, 3560 W. Camp Wisdom Road, Dallas.
