I recently wrote an article listing the highest-rated Mexican restaurants in Houston, according to Trip Advisor.

This provoked a lot of debate among readers, who argued for and against the inclusions on the list. So I thought I would take the discussion one step further and look at the best breakfast tacos in Houston. It is my favorite breakfast item, and I have spent a lot of time hunting down the best breakfast tacos in Houston.

For this list, however, I have turned to Yelp to gather the reviews of thousands of people. Yelp considers restaurant ratings, user engagement data, and reviews of businesses to determine its rankings.

So let's check out the best breakfast tacos in Houston, according to Yelp users.

1. Tacos Tierra Caliente

Tacos Tierra Caliente takes out the number one spot for breakfast tacos in Houston, according to Yelp users. Its tacos have also been featured in the New York Times and have been selected as one of the top 10 tacos in Houston by Houstonian Magazine and The Houston Press.

2. Brothers Taco House

1604 Dowling St Houston

If you are an early riser, then Brothers Taco House has got you covered. They open at 5 am from Monday to Friday- perfect for an early morning breakfast taco to kickstart your day.

3. La Chingada Tacos and Tequila

1402 Northwood St Houston

Due to a Federal Infringement ruling, they were forced to change their name from Unos P'nches Tacos. While the name has changed, the quality of their breakfast tacos has remained.

4. Tacos Dona Lena

8788 Hammerly Blvd Ste G Houston

5. Liberty Taco

4703 Richmond Ave Ste A Houston

Rounding out the top five is this taco restaurant located right down the road from The Galleria.
