"When we win, we’re finally fixing the grid, lowering our energy bills, and always putting people over profits." Democrat nominee for Texas Gov. Beto O'Rourke
With little more than two weeks until Texans vote in the midterm elections, both candidates have been busy on the campaign trail.
One of the major issues being pushed is the grid. Texans will remember the devastating impact Winer Storm Uri had on the state when the grid failed, and there is still some concern it could happen again. The Federal Energy Regulation Commission (FERC) released its winter assessment recently and said the ERCOT grid still has problems.
"FERC & NERC released their winter reliability assessment & it's not good for Texas. In a Uri-like event we would be short "by about 19.7GW," almost as much as Feb. 2021. To the suprise of few, the ERCOT grid still has major problems." Doug Lewin
Beto O'Rourke has continually mentioned the grid's failure and promised to fix it should he be elected as the next Texas Governor.
"We can’t rely on the grid to hold up when it gets cold. We can’t rely on the grid to hold up when it gets hot. We can’t rely on Greg Abbott to change this. It’s time to vote him out and fix the grid." Beto O'Rourke
Your thoughts
Are you concerned the gird may fail again this winter? Do you believe that Beto should fix the grid if elected? Or do you think Gov. Abbott has improved the grid's reliability?
