LostArkGold reported on February 14 that the free-to-play game Lost Ark was initially released in South Korea in 2019 and had millions of active players in South Korea, Russia, and Japan.
Twenty-four hours after its official launch on the Steam game platform, Lost Ark exceeded 1 million concurrent players, becoming the second-highest contemporary player in Steam history.
The game was launched yesterday for European and American markets. Previously, Amazon Games partnered with Smilegate RPG to localize and translate Lost Ark into English. Currently, Lost Ark has surpassed the records of CS: GO and Dota 2.
Previously, Lost Ark faced server issues, and players needed to queue to enter the game. According to SteamDB data, Lost Ark has 1,311,842 concurrent players, surpassing CS: GO's record of 1,308,963 players and Dota 2's 1,295,114 players.
LostArkGold understands that this record is second only to PUBG. Lost Ark still has a long way to go to break the latter's all-time high of 3,257,248 players.
Lost Ark is also Amazon Games' second hugely successful game. New World set a simultaneous online record of 913,634 players four months ago.
Currently, Lost Ark is receiving relatively positive reviews from critics. Still, ongoing issues have started to annoy some players, dropping the game to Mixed Review status on Steam, and at the time of writing Metacritic's, The 4.0 user rating is abysmal.
While these are likely to be temporary issues, we hope Amazon will fix the current issues so players can join and enjoy their time in Lost Ark.
