LINTHICUM, MD - A person remains in critical condition at Shock Trauma in Baltimore, after being struck by a pick-up truck near the Anne Arundel/Baltimore County line.
As reported by Anne Arundel First Alert, it happened on Saturday. December 11, 2021, at 7:41 P.M. Units from the Anne Arundel County and Baltimore County Fire Departments responded to the intersection of Baltimore Annapolis Blvd at Lake Front Drive. It was later reported that a pedestrian was struck. That was confirmed in a press release from the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
Authorities say the investigation revealed that a pedestrian was walking in the travel portion of southbound Baltimore Annapolis Blvd near Lake Front Drive when he was struck by a 2006 Ford F-150 pick-up truck.
"The pedestrian was wearing dark, non-reflective clothing," the release stated. The injured man was identified as John Edward Allen, Jr, age 39. He was transported to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore by the Anne Arundel County Fire Department paramedics. Reported with life-threatening injuries.
The driver was identified as, Ernest William Tester, Jr., age 62, from Baltimore. He was not injured in the incident. Police say, preliminarily, that pedestrian error is believed to be the primary cause of this crash.
The crash is currently under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.
