On August 12, at 10 a.m., the procession will begin at 19th and Farnam Streets and terminate at Gene Leahy Mall. Farnam Street will be the route's east side.
More than 10,000 people are expected to attend, according to Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert.
Three parking garages, Park 1 at 15th and Douglas, Park 5 at 19th and Capitol, and Park 8 at 12th and Capitol, will all provide free parking from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in addition to all downtown meters.
For every one of Omaha, this is great, said Stothert.
Crawford fought Errol Spence Jr. on Saturday to win the undisputed welterweight championship.
At the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Crawford defeated Spence for the first time in his professional career with a technical knockout in the ninth round.
The native of Omaha now possesses the IBF, WBC, WBA, and WBO titles and is a perfect 40-0 with 31 knockouts.
Children who want to practice at B&B Sports Academy, the gym in Crawford's hometown, are on a waiting list due to the attention.
According to director Steven Nelson, Crawford wanted his parade in his hometown of North Omaha but "tugged and pulled" the boxer to the Gene Leahy Mall, which is better suited to handle large crowds of supporters.
"24th Street wouldn't support it," Nelson said. "North Omaha will be heavily represented in this parade. Drill teams, schools, marching bands, and vendors."
A street is named after Crawford. He possesses the City's key. All that's left after this march is a monument. Stothert said that it's not impossible.
"Let's celebrate Terence together for his outstanding achievements as a world champion and coach and mentor to the youth at B & B Sports Academy," Stothert said. "His genuine interest in the young people of Omaha shows his real strength is preparing the next generations for success. The City is proud to create this event that honors him and that everyone can participate in."
According to Stothert, the anticipated $80,000–100,000 cost will be covered mainly by the City, with assistance from commercial partners for sponsorship.
Stothert said, Crawford's squad will be the sole participants in the procession by invitation only.
