(NEW YORK) A man was fatally shot Wednesday while driving on the Washington Bridge between Washington Heights and The Bronx, according to the New York City Police Department.
Officials responded to a ShotSpotter activation near West 181st Street and Amsterdam Avenue, near the entrance of the bridge, at approximately 10:43 p.m. Upon arrival, police located the victim behind the wheel of a red Dodge pickup truck, on the Bronx side of the bridge near the entrance ramp of the Cross Bronx Expressway.
The 41-year-old driver, identified as Eduardo Bonilla, was found with a gunshot wound to the torso. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and took Bonilla to Saint Barnabas Hospital at 4422 3rd. Ave., where he was pronounced dead.
Police have made no arrests and are actively investigating the case.
