(NEW YORK) As the summer weather continues to warm up Washington Heights, locals can coordinate more time outdoors thanks to free events like "Forest Fitness" at Fort Tryon Park.
The free, year-round exercise program meets three times a week — Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. On Saturday, the group will meet at 8:30 a.m. to explore the park while climbing multiple staircases, completing stretches and strengthening exercises, identifying notable trees and forest bathing. Forest Fitness is organized and led by Nancy Bruning, BA, MPH, PAPHS.
The Saturday course, also known as the "intense pace" route, will see the group travel from the Heather Garden entrance and walk along Stan Michels Promenade to Linden Terrace. After, the group will head west towards Broadway and then walk uphill to the gazebo and dog run. To end the trip, attendees will walk along the Alpine Garden path to the Margaret Corbin Circle.
The event is free for all to join and registration is not required. For more information, call (212) 795-1388 or email info@forttryonparktrust.org.
