(NEW YORK) Washington Heights residents can take advantage of the warm weather on Saturday and head to Highbridge Recreation Center to play dominoes for free, thanks to an event organized by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.
The free event will begin at noon and end at approximately 3 p.m. Dominoes players will gather in the multi-use room located at 2301 Amsterdam Ave.
According to the Museum of Play, the game originated in the 1300s in China. It is a constant sight in Washington Heights, as locals — most of who migrated from the Dominican Republic — gather across different blocks throughout the neighborhood to play the game.
