The day has come. The Indianapolis Colts self-imposed deadline to trade All-Pro running back Jonathan Taylor is here and it seems very likely that the running back will be dealt today, according to a number of NFL journalists.
As we enter Tuesday afternoon, there are two teasm that are active in trade discussions with the Colts for Taylor, and that the offers from those respective teams are considered to be substansive, according to CBS Sports' Josina Anderson.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the belief among league circles is that Taylor will be traded.
While it is unclear who one team in the chase is, we do know that the Miami Dolphins remain a front runner to land Taylor, as has been the case since it was announced that he was available.
The other team has been speculated as being the Denver Broncos, who are looking to make major strides this season following a brutal 2022 campaign. With new head coach Sean Payton as the helm, a deal for Taylor may be the big splash that Denver needs to return to contention this season, but they will have to outbid Miami to do so.
Whomever acquires Taytlor, considered to be one of the premier NFL athletes, they will have to then pony up the cash to secure him to a longterm contract.
Rapoport went on to say that a contract for Taylor is looking to be quite significant - "I dunno what the final number is gonna be but I believe it will be over $12M"
The Dolphins are certainly honed in on Taylor and by the end of the day they could be the winners of the Taylor sweepstakes. Stay tuned to social media for all the latest.
