In times where indoor activities aren't just out of fashion but unavailable due to the pandemic people look more and more for outdoor activities in order to fill their weekend plans and free time. With the weather slowly but surely warming up again beaches come to people's minds. Who doesn't like a day spent on the beach?

Jalama Beach is only half an hour's drive away from the City Center of Lompoc is an amazing day trip excursion if that's what you're looking for. But even if you only have a couple of hours available, due to its close distance to town it's still worth the drive.

On the way to Jalama Beach County Park you are going to drive through hillside vistas, pass some working ranches, and of course, see the well-known vineyards just before the beautiful coastline will appear.

Jalama Beach is a popular place for beach and ocean lovers. Kitesurfers can be seen jumping over the waves on pretty much any windy day on the coast. Fishing is always a good activity if one wants to relax for a few hours but still be occupied with something.

Swimming is possible in the ocean but it is done at its own risk. Despite having Lifeguards on duty during the summer months, dangerous winds and currents should not be underestimated.

The Coastline isn't flat and boring at all. In Jalama Beach County Park lots of hiking trails invite visitors to explore the stunning fauna and flower. Dogs are allowed in the park but there is a small fee to be paid. Which is also charged for each vehicle entering the park.

For the hungry visitors, a Beach Grill is open seven days a week offering delicious meals from breakfast to dinner. The Jalama Burger is a secretly famous dish on site. But maybe it is just the amazing view across the ocean which makes the Burger taste so delicious.

The beach caves along the shoreline can be visited during low tide. About a mile up from the parking you'll find them. On your way back you can make it on one of the amazing hiking trails along the coastline.

For those who don't get enough of Jalama Beach County Park in a few hours and prefer to spend more time on the ocean campground is available in the park. If you enjoy falling asleep in your tent while listening to the sound of the crashing waves this is the perfect spot for you.

The Campsites are equipped with a barbeque area and picnic tables. Hot showers are together with the restrooms only a short walk away from your camp. For those of you who like it a bit more comfortable the campground offers cabins with oceanview overlooking the stunning coastline.

If you haven't made any plans yet for the weekend then consider Jalama Beach County Park as an option for you and your family. It is worth the drive and always a stunning excursion.
