Wineries in the area around Lompoc are called the "New Wine Country" according to the Sunset Magazine. Their products are getting more and more attention. The wineries made their name for exceptional pinot and other wines coming from cooler climates.

The Sta. Rita Hills Vineyards

The Sta. Rita Hills Vineyards offer a huge variety of wine tastings and their winemakers won important awards with high ratings for the wines made out of grapes growing in the hills surrounding Lompoc.

In small boutiques in town, these local winemakers offer small batches of wines that won't be found anywhere else. Going to such a wine tasting will offer you a totally new experience.

A group of talented grape farmers and winemakers were inspired by the incredible potential offered by this wine region on California's Central Coast. Afternoon ocean breezes create a perfect climate for these grapes. The community, therefore, decided to work together in order to step up. Today they are able to present world-class wines.

Midtown Wineries

When visiting the winery located at the heart of Lompoc in its historic Old Town you can explore the flavors of these world-class wines while enjoying a laid-back and vintage vibe. Beautifully decorated tasting rooms ensure the full experience of these special wines.

The wines offered in these tasting are 1005 Estate wines. Brewer-Clifton was even given an Award as the Wine Spectator's Number 8 back in 2014. Tastings can only be held at this point after prior appointments.

Lompoc Wine Ghetto

Wines produced in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto are locally-made and small-batch wines that can't be found anywhere else in the world. Don't get fooled by the name of this winery. Inside its tasting rooms, you will be greeted by artisan winemakers who will present you award-winning world-class wines.

It's a fact the largest concentration of small production tasting rooms in Santa Barbara Country is indeed the Lompoc Wine Ghetto.

Their boutique tasting rooms are open from Friday to Sunday and some of them even offer tastings on Thursdays and Mondays.

Foley Estates Vineyard & Winery

Bill Foley made his dream come true when building this winery. He is producing today well-known world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Today you can join their private Wine Club, enjoy a delicate wine tasting or host a unique event at their location. Indoor and outdoor facilities offer a huge variety of unique weddings, anniversary parties, and private soirees.

Final Words

The wineries in the region made a name of themselves and don't have to hide behind other world-class wine brands anymore. With their unique signature of small-batch wines, they somehow made themselves scarce but valuable at the same time.

On the famous Wine Trail, almost 30 wineries can be explored. Not only standard wines but even sparkling wine can be tasted and bought afterward. Before going for a visit just check out their opening times since some wineries only offer tastings after an appointment has been made.
