The Weather Channel reports that mysterious "witch bottles" that were originally used to ward off evil spirits and spells have been found along the Gulf Coast in Texas. They were once used to break dark spells.

The "witch bottles" washing up on the beach are said to be of unknown origin and experts suggest leaving them alone.

A researcher claimed that he found eight of the bottles and has never even opened one because his wife will not allow him to open it.

The bottles originally dated to the 16th and 17th centuries when people who believed they were cursed would fill up the bottles with objects such as nails or human hair.

The bottles found on the beach seemed to have vegetation and sticks inside.
