A woman shopping at a Kmart store in Tasmania, Australia reports that she saw something on the clearance rack that mortified her.
Her story which appears in a Yahoo News article serves as a reminder to check everything you see on the clearance rack.
The woman claims that she found a pair of pajama pants with a reddish-brown stain close to the crotch area of the pants. She revealed in a photo that the stain in the pants also extended to the inside.
There was a yellow discount label attached to the garment that indicated it was "Soiled/Damaged/Faulty Merchandise" and the price had been reduced from $6 to $3.
The woman's post on social media ignited a discussion about hygiene policies and standards at Kmart.
A spokesman for Kmart responded to the outcry,
"We are looking into how this took place," "as selling an item in this state is against our store procedures and standards at Kmart."
