If you are a Newport or Covington resident and you are looking for a place that accepts donations, check out the Brighton Center.

The Brighton Center is a non-profit organization located at 741 Central Avenue in Newport. Their mission is:

To create opportunities for individuals and families to reach self-sufficiency through family support services, education, employment and leadership.

One way you can help the Brighton Center is to provide donations. When I was moving out of my Newport apartment, I had a lot of extra stuff I couldn't take with me and I was referred to the Brighton Center to make a donation.

The Brighton Center now has a newly opened thrift store called Thrifting on Eastern in Covington. The actual store location is at 2014 Eastern Avenue in Covington. The store opened back in June 9 and they had an opening day for the occasion.

Thrifting on Eastern was a gift from St. Elizabeth Healthcare (Covington) to the Brighton Center. The Brighton Center had to close their own thrift store in Newport so opening the Thrifting on Eastern store is a much-needed endeavor for this non-profit.

Currently, Thrifting on Eastern is accepting donations such as kitchenware supplies, small appliances, toys, home decor, electronics, small furniture, fashion accessories, and in-season new or gently used clothing. You can drop off your donations at the Thrifting on Eastern store. They are accepting donations every week from Wednesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In addition to accepting donations, the Thrifting on Eastern is also a great place to shop for vintage clothes, furniture, kids toys, shoes, handbags, and more. Thrifting on Eastern has a Facebook page and occasionally they may advertise sale events on their Facebook. Their most recent sale event was on Saturday where they had a 17% off deal if you mentioned the Facebook post. Look out for other events by following their Facebook profile.

You can also find unique items at the store but most importantly by shopping at the store, you can help the mission of the Brighton Center which is to help families in the region. You can also choose to volunteer at the store to help out.

The store is open from Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Be sure to check it out if you are in the area.
