Cleveland, OH - For the second time based on its medical travel services, Cleveland Clinic has been given “Accreditation with Excellence” by Global Healthcare Accreditation, or GHA.

In consultation with leading global experts in the industries it represents, which include health providers, insurers, and employers, GHA promoted international standards (accredited by the International Society for Quality in Health Care or ISQUA) as well as professional norms for medical travel, also known as medical tourism and health tourism.

The goal of the GHA accreditation seal is to increase trust by showing to patients and foreign payers that the organization has fulfilled processes as well as policies to reduce the risks of medical travel patients and improve the patient experience at every stage of the journey.

“This accreditation is a testament to Cleveland Clinic’s focus on patient experience,” said Maan Fares, M.D., interim chair of Global Patient Services at Cleveland Clinic. “It is recognition of our commitment to providing the highest quality care to patients around the world.”

After completing a three-day remote accreditation survey given by two GHA surveyors, Cleveland Clinic was officially notified of its upgraded accreditation status on June 4, 2021.

Cleveland Clinic (which is now celebrating its hundredth anniversary) is a nonprofit, multispecialty academic medical center that blends clinical and hospital care with research and education. The clinic was created in 1921 by four famous physicians in Cleveland, Ohio, to deliver excellent patient care based on the principles of cooperation, compassion, and innovation.

Cleveland Clinic has established many medical findings, such as the first face transplant in the United States and coronary artery bypass surgery. In its annual "America's Best Hospitals" poll, US News & World Report frequently rates them as one of the nation's best hospitals.
