The City of Mentor host Public Hearings for CDBG Program FY2021 Action Plan

CLEVELAND, OH — The U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) required the City of Mentor to prepare an Annual Action Plan to use the Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.

The funds must aid the low and moderate-income persons. The grant funds will provide decent housing, a suitable living environment,and expand economic opportunities for these families and people. According to the HUD regulation and the City of Mentor’s Citizen Participation Plan, there will be two public hearings will be held by the City of Mentor.

The first public hearing was held on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 2:00 PM. The hearing was attended and only accessible virtually. The CDBG grant application is not required to participate but it is encouraged. The first meeting discussed the amount of funding provided by the HUD.

During the development stage of the Annual Action plan, the components of the plan will be discussed and comments from the public are encouraged, including ideas regarding the community’s needs, resources and priorities.

The second public hearing will be held on Monday, June 28, 2021 at 3:00 PM. The hearing will be accessible online. While the CDBG is not required to join the meeting, their participation is encouraged.

The proposed grant for the FY2021 Annual Action plan will be announced and public comment is encouraged during the public hearing.
