ATLANTA, GA - Clayton County will be holding a competition called "The Lake Spivey Road Race" on Saturday, October 9, at 09:00 a.m located in 2300 Walt Stephens Road, Jonesboro, Georgia.

The Lake Spivey Road Race has two categories, sorted by distance. The first one is the 5K or 3.1-mile run, and the second one is more challenging with 15K or 9.3 miles. Not just walking, participants can also take a leisure walk for their enjoyment.

Runners will start and finish the road race at Clayton County International Park. However, runners can register and park their vehicle at Lake Spivey Recreation Center.

The 15K road racecourse will be passing across the residential neighborhood that surrounds Lake Spivey and Lake Jodeco. Runners will run around the course in a clockwise loop motion. The 5K road race, on the other hand, will take left or north into the Lake Spivey Country Club subdivisions. Both runners in the 5K and 15K will return to the park and race to the finish line bypassing Walt Stephens Road.

The registration fee for the 5K distance is $30 per person, and for the 15K distance is $35 per person. All registered walkers and runners will receive a free race shirt, however, if participants register after October 1, they might not get the t-shirt because the stock is limited.

Runners will receive an award based on their group age, the committee breakdown ages into several categories: 15-21, 22-27, 28-35, 36-40, 41-46, 47-52, 53-59, 60-65, 66 and over.

Clayton County Parks and Recreation Department, and Lake Spivey Community will utilize the MyLaps B-Tag timing system on both the 15K and the 5K road race to monitor the runners.
