ATLANTA, GA — Shaina Pierce is the first person ever appointed as a stage management fellow in the Alliance Theatre. She will work as a stage manager or assistant on the Coca-Cola Stage from August 1 until the end of the 2021-2022 season.

The Stage Management Fellowship Program, hosted by the Alliance Theatre, was initiated to diversity the theatre’s artist community with BIPOC members within its managerial roles.

During her fellowship, Pierce will work on the new version of A Christmas Carol. And she will work with a Broadway-experienced creative team on an enhanced version of world premiere musicals.

Her time in the theatre allows her to have an opportunity to build relationships with the Atlanta theatre community or outside it. And her experience in the Alliance can also fill up her resume with outstanding marks.

Pierce received the fellowship right after graduating with her Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Alabama.

As a student, she worked on The Merchant of Venice, Intimate Apparel, and Legally Blonde plays. She was the stage manager of Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre at the university. And she even taught and mentored stage management to undergraduate students.

Her work does not stop in her university. She has worked at The Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Comedy of Errors, Cinderella, and Disney's The Little Mermaid. She is the stage manager at the Cloverdale Playhouse in The Last Five Years and The Boys Next Door plays.

She is also involved in The Nutcracker play for the Montgomery Ballet. And she has done staged readings and virtually recorded readings.
