ATLANTA, GA — Amy Lancaster-King has been named executive director of WorkSource Atlanta, the city of Atlanta's workforce development agency, by Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and Invest Atlanta.
Amy Lancaster-King's hiring corresponds with WorkSource Atlanta's projected integration into Invest Atlanta in July 2021.
Lancaster-King, who has six years of workforce development experience, will work with Invest Atlanta to improve the delivery of workforce development services in the city and enhance WorkSource Atlanta's potential.
She is currently the Metro Atlanta Chamber's senior director of workforce development, where she is responsible for all of the Chamber's workforce initiatives. It includes authoring, mediating and lobbying to advance thoughtful and fair workforce policies at the state Capitol, directing and evangelizing key research on the supply and demand of talent, and forging community partnerships to increase study participation.
WorkSource Atlanta collaborates with federal, state and local agencies, as well as colleges, schools and community and faith-based groups. They want to provide comprehensive workforce development services to job seekers and employers.
Mayor Bottoms' One Atlanta: Economic Mobility, Recovery and Resiliency Plan includes a strategy to incorporate WorkSource Atlanta with Invest Atlanta in order to assist more Atlanta people to build wealth through good, middle-income jobs and better support Atlanta employers' hiring requirements.
Lancaster-King led MAC's internship project and established InternNavigator.com before directing the company's workforce development operations. By linking colleges and universities areas with employers, she has worked with universities and regional partners to boost internship and co-op possibilities.
She sits on the boards of WorkSource Atlanta, Atlanta CareerRise and Atlanta College & Career Academy, as well as the Metro Atlanta Exchange for Workforce Solutions and the Georgia Association of Colleges and Employers, and is the Chair of the Metro Atlanta Exchange for Workforce Solutions.
Lancaster-King will start on July 12 and report to Dr. Eloisa Klementich, President and CEO of Invest Atlanta.
