An Artificial Intelligence Has Deciphered A Scroll From Herculaneum After 2,000 Years
computer science student has managed, thanks to artificial intelligence, to start deciphering unopened scrolls from Herculaneum, an ancient Roman city buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. The city was surprised by the catastrophic eruption of the volcano located in front of the city of Naples, which began to spew fiery rock and ash, burying nearby towns, including Herculaneum and Pompeii. Many of their inhabitants were vaporized, and the famous Papyri of Herculaneum found in a luxury villa, Villa Papyri, many centuries later, ended up charred and totally unreadable to experts until now.
