The Road To Nowhere | Great Smoky Mountains Travel Guide

In the Great Smoky Mountains National Park there is an abandoned road and tunnel that was supposed to lead to Fontana Lake. It is appropriately coined The Road to Nowhere. If you are looking for a hidden gem in the Smokies this tunnel is a cool place to check out with some interesting history. The Great Smoky Mountain National Park is the most visited National Park in the United States. But at over 522,419 acres there are places that are a little more hidden from the common tourist eye.
