While most parents take a step back and just watch while their kids do gymnastics, one dad decided it was time to test his own skills while doing gym training with his daughter.
What are the details?
Determination is undoubtedly a top skill for Ashley Mills. The 47-year-old dad, who lives in Melbourne, Australia, has attempted split leaps and front tucks, proving that you should never give up on learning new things.
Together with his daughter Alex, they've earned many followers on social media. Alex has been training in gymnastics for eight years. Her 32 hours of weekly practice eventually made her dad want to join in on the effort since she is clearly a natural.
It only took her showing some of the things she learned after getting back home from gym class to get her dad interested.
They work together now, trying to be better all the time, and being spontaneous is a big part of the way they bond in gymnastics.
"I've always had reasonable balance, so we had fun. It's random—if the weather is nice, we pull out the Airtracks and have a play. We do the majority of our fun on the front lawn. Alex got big for the inside skills," Mills shared with The Epoch Times.
They are connecting in a loving bond, and their videos are amazing to watch, giggles included. Online users worldwide are commending Ashley for his perseverance and his daughter for always being so patient.
"The online response has been amazing! To be honest,[...] you just do these things with your kids," the father said.
While the restrictions lasted, Alex had to take a step back from regular competitions, but now she's started a gym training routine that can't fail to bring great results. The whole family is proud of her skills and achievements.
"I have a real appreciation for what Alex does at the gym! It's a hard sport; I admire her commitment and determination," her father concluded.
