A woman studying in China has just become the nation’s symbol for hard work and dedication.

She was seen in a clip widely circulated on Weibo, the Chinese version for Twitter as she clutched her university notes while a large fluorescent light shimmered through her ponytail.

What are the details?

The clip was posted online on November 12, as reported by the Chinese online media outlet Sina News, quoted by Insider.

The student was filmed inside a university in the Hebei province. The student’s classmates made the clip. They were all studying together late at night when the lights suddenly flashed out.

So, the girl had an original idea that would serve as inspiration for thousands of people. She asked to borrow a fluorescent light from one of her friends and then coiled part of her ponytail around the light. She was able to read like this, as Insider points out.

The student whose identity has not been disclosed was revising her notes and study materials for the Unified National Graduate Entrance Examination. This is an annual exam that qualifies students for Master’s degrees, as Sina News highlights.

The video is now a major topic on Weibo, and the thread has been titled "Girl studying for Master’s on corridor put a light on her head to study.” It has 290 million views and has started over 17,000 discussion threads.

Seeing the clip has prompted many people to share their study experiences, how they struggled with notes in the dark, and what it feels like to revise until the morning, very close to exam dates.
