Parent finds “brainwashing” display in LA school: “Anti-black slave patrols”

A parent of a student at Alexander Hamilton High School in Los Angeles found several offensive political posters on display in the classrooms. They were all anti-police and contained slurs and offensive words.

The posters uncovered by the concerned parent denigrate the police force and condemn the whole country as racist.

What are the details?

The unidentified parent captured the shocking images and called this outrageous display just another instance of "disgusting brainwashing of students with taxpayer dollars."

The classroom also had a Pride flag, a Black Lives Matter flag, and an LGBTQ+ flag lined up neatly on the wall. The posters on display on different classroom walls insulted the police and America. The anti-police image also included text.

“Policing is a violent, anti-Black, settler institution that originated as slave patrols. Their primary mandate is to protect property and to militarily enforce White supremacist capitalism. They are doing their jobs as they are trained and paid to do. You can't fix what isn't broken. That's why we fight for police and prison abolition,” the text read, according to The Blaze.

The second poster associates the country with words like “colonialism, slavery, imperialism, and prison lands.”

How did the school react?

Los Angeles Unified School District announced that the two posters will be taken down but made no reference to the flags.

“L.A. Unified is aware of the specific classroom decorations. The specific posters will be taken down. We maintain and uphold student and staff confidentiality and therefore cannot comment on any of our students or employees,” the district stated.
“While utilizing decorations in our learning environments, all L.A. Unified teachers are expected to adhere to district policies and to be mindful of our mission to educate children in a classroom that reflects all our policies of inclusion and respectful treatment of individual rights. Any displays that are determined to be overtly and objectively political or otherwise run afoul of our policies of inclusion and respectful treatment of others will be taken down and will be handled administratively,” it added separately for the Parents Defending Education nonprofit group.
