Six alumni of the University of North Georgia graduate from War College

DAHLONEGA, GA- This summer, six alumni of the University of North Georgia or UNG graduated from the Army War College or an Army War College Fellowship, and the Air War College.

"UNG produces some of the best military officers, especially for the Army, in the nation. This is evidenced in the number of our graduates who are selected to attend the senior service colleges, the highest level of professional military education in our armed forces," said Dr. Billy Wells, a retired Army colonel as well as UNG senior vice president for leadership and global engagement.

He also said that they were very proud of their six 2021 graduates.

The six alumni are Col. Johnny Casiano, '98, Col. David Key, '98, Lt. Col. Jay Kaji, '00, and Lt. Col. Charles Wells, '00, Lt. Col. Tony Passero, '00, and Lt. Col. Damon Sheffield, '00.

The six of them except Lt. Col. Tony Passero and Lt. Col. Damon Sheffield graduated from the Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

In addition, Lt. Col. Tony Passero, '00 attended an Army War College Fellowship at the University of Texas, while Lt. Col. Damon Sheffield studied the Air War College in Montgomery, Alabama.

Casiano, who is a garrison commander at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland said that he was the person he was today due to the mentorship from more senior cadets as well as the framework of leader development that existed at the university.

Meanwhile, Kaji who is an executive cell at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama said that The War College and the Advanced Strategic Art Program had provided him with a unique skill set that was going to assist him as a senior leader in the Army.
