ATLANTA, GA — On Wednesday, June 9, Emory Johns Creek Hospital has announced the completion of a facility expansion that included the construction of two new floors and 40 more beds to the current hospital.
A new parking deck will also open, with 640 parking places and free parking for patients and visitors. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was performed at the hospital to honor the expansion.
The project expands the existing patient tower by roughly 70,000 square feet and includes wide windows for natural light, LED lighting and controls, and low-emitting interior finishes.
The sixth level, which is expected to open next week, will have 40 medical, surgical, and oncology patient rooms as well as three nurses’ stations. The 5th story, which will include offices and extra shell space, will open at a later date.
“Our main commitment is to provide efficient, compassionate world-class care to help patients heal, close to home. This expansion also gives Emory Johns Creek Hospital additional opportunities to innovate, educate and serve as a vital part of our community,” says Marilyn Margolis, Emory Johns Creek Hospital CEO.
DPR Construction oversaw the facilities expansion.
“Change the world. It’s one of our core beliefs at DPR, and one way to do that is through the customers we serve. Emory is such a vital member of the Johns Creek community, it’s been an honor supporting the local team to deliver the expansion of Emory Johns Creek Hospital to allow them to provide even more extraordinary care and excellent service to the people of Johns Creek,” says Chris Bontrager, DPR’s Atlanta business unit leader.
Collins Cooper Carusi Architects designed the new parking deck behind the hospital. McCarthy Building Companies constructed it.
“It was an honor for McCarthy to work with Emory Healthcare and participate in this exciting expansion of their campus in Johns Creek,” says Bobby Campbell, Atlanta business unit leader for McCarthy.
