Prosecutors in the Manhattan criminal case against former President Donald Trump have released a recording of Trump and an undisclosed witness to his attorneys, according to a document made public by the office. The document, known as an automatic discovery form, provides an overview of the charges and the evidence that will be presented at Trump's preliminary hearing or trial. Trump's attorneys and media organizations had been requesting the release of this form since his arrest on April 4.

Trump is the first former president in American history to face criminal charges. He has pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts of falsification of business records related to alleged payments made as part of a "hush money" scheme. The document lists the dates of 34 instances between February 14, 2017, and December 5, 2017, when Trump is accused of falsifying records.

The document also mentions the disclosure of a recording of a conversation between Trump and a witness, as well as the intention to provide recordings of calls between witnesses and others. Trump's attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the matter.

The automatic discovery form was completed on Tuesday, the same day Trump appeared before New York Judge Juan Merchan via a live video feed. Merchan had implemented a protective order prohibiting Trump from publicizing or possessing much of the evidence, and Trump was warned that violating the order could result in sanctions or fines, including a finding of contempt.

Certain information labeled as "Limited Dissemination Materials" will only be available to Trump in the presence of his attorneys. The trial for the case is scheduled to commence on March 25, 2024.
