· Waterdrinker Family Farm

Hello Instagram lovers! Your first stop is sure to get you the perfect photo op! Whether you are out with the girls, spending the night with the fam or on a date, there is something for everyone here!

Celebrating Christmas is an art form, and Waterdrinker sure has perfected it! Visit this rustic winter wonderland close to home. This farm is conveniently located right off the Long Island Expressway; it is easy to spot with their twinkling white lights guiding the way. They have it all, from hot cocoa and s'mores to mini golf and outdoor movies. Walk through the farm to see the animals just before the sugarplums dance in their heads.

My boyfriend and I visited the farm over Thanksgiving weekend to kick off the holiday season like big kids! There is something about driving up to a Christmas tree farm at night that brings you instant joy! As we stepped out of the car, the smell of pine filled the air. That smell always marks the start of the holiday season. As we toured the winter lights display, the stress about my to-do list slowly faded. Although most of the animals were sleeping at this point, it was a serene walk just to watch them lay under the stars.

At the end of the light display stood a giant sleigh decorated in sparkling white lights. Yes, I know what you are thinking, the perfect holiday photo opportunity! Finally, we turned the corner to find the airstream village of nostalgic vans. The cars decorated the lawn around the massive movie screen playing The Polar Express. The socially distanced fire pits shined in front of each beautifully decorated van.

We arrived at the perfect time to snag our own cozy spot in front of the fire to make s'mores and snuggle up with hot cocoa. The full moon lit the sky for the best date night under the stars. We ended our evening touring the gift shop that was filled with adorable lawn decorations and premade gift baskets. They had unique ornaments and handmade stockings and signs. The barn-like shop gave it a craft fair feel! There were endless photo opportunities inside along with beautifully decorated trees. I left with plenty of decorating inspiration! I was shocked by the affordable prices. An ideal chance to support local businesses while saving money!

Bring the kids, or don't! Waterdrinker makes for a romantic evening or a family fun night!

U-pick trees & Winter Wonderland Gift Shop are FREE to enter. Airstream Christmas Village & Holiday Light Display: $10 admission. Open Wednesday- Sunday.

Location: 663 Wading River Road, Manorville, NY 11949.

· Shamrock Christmas Tree Farm

Spreading Christmas cheer has never been more enjoyable! Visit this scenic landscape to cut down your own tree while sipping some local wines or snacking on some fresh Long Island pickles!

This tree farm is known for its warm welcome from local vendors. I was thrilled as we walked up to what looked like a festive farmer's market! They had holiday music playing and plenty of photo opportunities for the whole family!

What I love about Shamrock Farm is that you can choose a pre-cut tree or head out into the field and pick your own. Do not feel like doing all the work? Shamrock makes getting your tree simple and convenient without taking away the festive experience! The staff is extremely helpful with cutting the trees down and tying them to your car.

The field is only footsteps away from the parking lot, which makes it a great trip for the entire family; strollers, wheelchairs, and all! There are socially distanced train rides with plexiglass windows and photos on Santa's sleigh. Although Santa will not be visiting this year, you can snap a photo with a life-like statue and catch Santa next year!

Location: 20685 Main Rd, Mattituck, NY 11952. FREE admission. Open every day 8am-5pm.

· Santa's Christmas Tree Farm

Now this farm is the icing on the gingerbread house! Outdoor lovers will enjoy this glorious hike through 8,000 Christmas trees! Search Santa's farm until you find the perfect tree! You can chop it down yourself or get some assistance from the friendly staff standing nearby. After your tree is uprooted and ready to take home, go enjoy ice skating, farm animals, and cozy fire pits while the kind staff does all the work for you!

You guessed it, Santa is here, and he is wearing his face mask and sneeze guard. This is a great spot for kids, as they have safe and sanitized bouncy houses and s'mores kits. I loved sipping the hot apple cider while taking in the views of the evergreens light up the clear night sky. Winter does not always mean you have to stay indoors! Bundle up and soak in the crisp North Fork air!

My favorite part of this farm was the indoor Christmas shop! Do not let the line discourage you from waiting. Santa knows how to keep his guests safe and healthy. They are monitoring how many people are in the store to make for a safe experience for all. Once inside you will be mesmerized by the twinkle of each light engulfing the frosted trees. Each tree has its own unique theme that is sure to impress!

Location: 30105 Main Rd. Cutchogue, NY 11935. Open every day 10am-5pm.

If you are planning a day trip out to the East end of Long Island, these storybook farms are guaranteed to make you feel like you are stepping inside your favorite holiday flick!
