This Saturday, February 5th is Ice Cream For Breakfast Day and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is on a mission to set the world record for the most people eating Ice Cream For Breakfast.

You can help the Columbus, Ohio craft ice cream shop set the record by joining in. To be part of the count, fans will share a photo or video of themselves indulging in their favorite ice cream using the hashtag #IceCreamIsBreakfast (between 9 am and noon local time, from a public social account). To sweeten the deal, five lucky participants will win a YEAR's worth of free Jeni’s Ice Cream, to enjoy for breakfast or anytime. You can enjoy any brand and any flavor of ice cream to participate. It doesn't have to be Jeni's. If you normally drink coffee in the morning, try an affogato – a shot or two of espresso poured over a scoop of ice cream. It's an Italian specialty and one of my favorite desserts.

Jeni's even released a limited-edition breakfast-inspired flavor, Maple Soaked Pancakes, to celebrate the fun food holiday. It's the perfect pint to dive into this weekend and available online and at all Jeni's scoop shops nationwide. I've already tried it, and the rich, buttery maple flavor is just perfect with a side of bacon. There are even bits of frozen pancakes swirled into the ice cream. It may seem like a silly food holiday, but it's also a sweet way to start the weekend with family and friends. And you may win a year's supply of ice cream just for posting a picture.
