For the first time in 20 months, Fiji Airways welcomed fully vaccinated travelers onboard, with the first American tourists from Los Angeles waking up in Fijian Paradise at roughly 5:45am on December 2nd to a celebration from the local community.
Fiji Airways Managing Director & CEO Andre Viljoen said: "Today has been a very special day as we welcome back our American friends after 20 long months. We have been working hard since March last year to prepare for this moment and ensure our guests have the safest and most enjoyable travel experience possible. We have incorporated an award-winning new Travel Ready safety program, new in-flight entertainment for travelers of all ages and new seat selection options to enhance comfort for long-haul and mid-haul flights."
Fiji Airways has taken advantage of this opportunity to unveil a host of new goods and benefits to enhance the customer experience for its customers beginning December 1st, including an increase in baggage allowance from 23kg to 30kg for economy class travelers on all international flights.
Economy class travelers on selected long-haul and medium-haul flights will be able to purchase the My Island sleeper package to stretch out and relax across a full row. To support the best possible sleep in economy class, the new My Island option provides extra luxuries such as a business class size cushion, mattress topper, supplementary blanket, and an extension seat belt.
Fiji Airways passengers can also enjoy free access to the digital reading platform PressReader, which has over 7,000 worldwide newspapers and magazines that can be downloaded straight to their own device. Fiji Airways is the first airline in the Asia Pacific area to provide this service and passengers can read and download their favorite titles 96 hours before departure to 24 hours after landing at their destination.
Fiji Airways has also focused on innovative methods to engage its youngest guests aboard with the launch of Our Ocean, Our Life. The complementary in-flight activity pack and book series for travelers aged 2 to 12 years old is committed to teaching the next generation on the significance of preserving and safeguarding Fiji's delicate marine environment in a fun and engaging way.

This is how seriously we take the wellbeing of our customers and staff."
In Fiji, 90 percent of the adult population is completely vaccinated. Travelers entering Fiji must be completely vaccinated and provide proof of a negative RT-PCR test done within 72 hours prior to departure.
Entry conditions into Fiji include proof of travel insurance that will cover COVID-19 related medical expenses, a rapid Antigen Test 48 hours after arrival in Fiji at the resort and a pre-booked itinerary with Care Fiji Commitment (CFC) approved accommodation and transfers for the first three nights.
