Author Q&A

What was the hardest part of writing your book?
The hardest part is always the beginning. Figuring out how I wanted to break down my thoughts took a little more time than I thought. Keeping my anonymity while telling my story was also difficult. Every day, I wonder if people will recognize me if they read my book.

What inspired you to write your first book?
I wrote my very first book 2 years ago. Women kept asking me how I managed to attract the men that I date. Not every woman gets to date men who truly care about them and are willing to invest in them and their future. To be honest, I never really thought I was doing something special, to attract those kinds of men, at least not consciously, but when I looked back, I noticed a pattern in my behavior that made me a more attractive candidate. The book is a bit controversial, but women love it.

How did you come up with the title?
I wanted the title for my most recent book to be very straightforward. When someone looks at the title “The Social Climber’s Guide” they know exactly what they’re getting; strategies to effectively climb the social ladder.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
I always loved reading and writing as a child. I would spend hours in the library and get lost in my books. I even fell in love with a book character once. I would write short stories and even started writing a book when I was 15, but never finished it.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. The titles of my books are often provocative, but the contents will win you over. All I ask is that you have an open mind as you read them.

What is your favorite positive saying?
It’s actually a bible verse. “For we walk by faith, not by sight” 2 Corinthians 5:7. It reminds me to ignore the mess, put my fears aside, and focus on the promise.
