No Room for Boredom... What To Do in the Upstate This Weekend

Early this morning, approximately fifty-five of the country’s best anglers took to Lake Hartwell to compete in the 2022 Bassmaster Classic. This kicks off a full weekend of family friendly events that will get everyone outside to enjoy this beautiful weekend.

Takeoff activities begin each day at 6:30am, with launches at 7:00am from Green Pond Landing & Event Center. Live weigh ins events are free to the general public to view, beginning each day at 4:30pm at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. While in Greenville, you can also head over to The Greenville Convention Center where the Bassmaster Classic Outdoor Expo will be featuring exhibitors featuring the latest equipment for any outdoor enthusiast including hunting, fishing, camping, boating and more. Best of all, all of these events are completely free of charge!


This weekend also hosts the Easy Bend IPRA Rodeo at T. Ed Garrison Arena and Expo Center at Clemson University. Enjoy a wide variety of rodeo events to include Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Calf Roping, Steer Wrestling, Barrel Racing, Team Roping and Bull Riding.

Arts & Crafts

If you head down to the State Fairgrounds in Columbia you can admire original creations of hundreds of artisans and craftsmen, many of whom will be demonstrating their skills throughout the weekend. For under $10 admission, you will see a wide variety of pieces, check out the Craftsmen’s Spring Classic.


The Wahalla Performing Arts Center may temp the music lovers this weekend. For country lovers, celebrate their 40 years of touring with a concert featuring The Bellamy Brothers on Friday night. Saturday night, you can enjoy The Dave Matthews Tribute Band.


This weekend features 25k and 50k races at Table Rock State Park by South Carolina Ultra Marathon Club. The 3,000 acre park in Pickens offers the two distances that test your will power but provide stunning views from this section of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The annual Conquer The Rock features the Foothills 50k summits the second highest point in SC, Pinnacle Mountain. The Saturday race is a two loop course with 15,000 feet of elevation, while the Bear Crawl 25K race on Sunday will have 7,500 of elevation change.


If you prefer sports spectating, this weekend hosts a wide range of options for Clemson fans. Today you can head over to McWhorter Stadium for softball against Virginia Tech. Saturday features men’s basketball against Virginia Tech at Littlejohn Coliseum and Rowing against Duke if you want to enjoy the outdoors. On Sunday, Clemson hosts South Carolina in baseball.
