If you are a recent college graduate and you enjoy Tinjuna Flats, then this deal is one you will definitely be interested in. Tijuana Flats is offering free food for recent graduates for a limited time.

Tijuana Flats is a Tex-Mex style restaurant that offers all kinds of menu items including loaded guacamole and chips, burritos, tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, and much more. They have a number of sides including rice, beans, salsa, and guacamole.

They also feature unique desserts like churro bites, cookie dough flautas, the brookie (brownie + cookie combo), and chocolate chip brownies.

Obviously, there are a ton of different items to choose from, but if you are a recent college graduate, you can actually get a free appetizer.

How To Get the Free Appetizer

In order to get the free appetizer, you must show up on a Sunday between May 16 and June 13, 2021. The deal is that when you buy one full priced adult entree, you will get one starter for free (valued at a maximum of $6.69).

This offer is only valid for dine-in orders, and you must show your graduation cap or transcript to receive this free offer.

They also state on their website that the offer is:

"Not valid with any other offer or promotion. No upgrades or substitutions. Additional exclusions may apply. Subject to change or cancellation."

Hours and Location

The location for Tijuana Flats is 1310 E. Millbrook Rd. Raleigh, North Carolina. Their current hours are as follows:

  • Monday - Sunday: 11 AM - 9 PM

So if you can plan to go on a Sunday, you have the ability to get the free appetizer deal, so long as you bring your proof of graduation in the form of your cap or transcript.

The Backstory

Just to give you a little bit of backstory about how Tijuana Flats came to be, I wanted to share a paragraph from the Tijuana Flats website that discusses how a broke college student turned his restaurant vision into a reality:

"Like most college kids, our founder, Brian Wheeler, liked going to bars and restaurants. So much so that in 1995, he got the crazy idea to open his own despite never having worked in one. Problem was, like most college kids, Brian was broke. Fortunately for Tex-Mex fans, Brian’s dad loaned him the money to open the first Tijuana Flats in Winter Park, Florida."

This just goes to show that you truly can build something from the ground up and learn as you go, so long as you have the right idea and the capital to do so. I think it is especially interesting that the founder had no prior work experience in the industry when he got into it.

Nonetheless, he has obviously found success with his Tijuana Flats restaurant, as he has expanded to a number of locations since he first began. In fact, Tijuana Flats now has 124 different restaurants located across four different states.

Final Thoughts

If you enjoy Tijuana Flats or you have been wanting to check out the restaurant and you are a recent college graduate, you might as well plan to go their on a Sunday so you can get the free appetizer deal.

Just remember to bring your graduation cap or transcript, and you will be good to go for the deal. They are open from 11 AM until 9 PM, so you have plenty of time throughout the day to head there. You could grab lunch or dinner, and get your free appetizer while you are at it.

It's a great way to treat yourself for making it through four years of difficult college classes and school work.
