Without our mothers, none of us would be a part of this world today. They brought us here, nurtured us, raised us, and prepared us for adulthood.

They support our lofty goals, provide a helping hand when we need it, and care about our well being and success. So, it is no surprise that there is an entire day dedicated to celebrating them.

May 9, 2021, is a day that you will certainly not want to forget. It is a day to show your mom just how much you love and appreciate her.

If you are looking for something fun and unique to do with your mom in Raleigh, North Carolina, this mother's day, I have got you covered with the following three exciting places to take her. Let's dive right in with the first option.

1. Grab lunch at The Fiction Kitchen.

Something unique about my mother is that she follows a plant-based diet. Like many other people, she also enjoys exercising and eating healthy. If your mother has a similar passion for health and fitness, grabbing some plant-based food together could be the perfect gift to give her this mother's day.

The Fiction Kitchen features a vegetarian menu with a variety of vegan friendly options as well. They have menu items like curry bowls, protein bowls, peanut noodle bowls, salads, fresh bread, and much more. They are located in Downtown Raleigh, and they currently have takeout options. By ordering from them, you will also get the added bonus of supporting a local business.

You could grab your food to-go and have a picnic outside with your mother if the weather is nice. Or, you could bring the food back home and enjoy eating a delicious lunch while chatting about life for an hour or two with your mom. Either way, this option is one that both you and your mom will be sure to remember.

2. Head to the state farmer's market.

If you and your mom love to cook fresh food, consider heading to the farmer's market to support small businesses and local farmers. You could pick out some ingredients and then go home and cook a meal to enjoy together.

The Raleigh, North Carolina, farmer's market is described as:

"a family adventure. Considered one of the nation’s best and most modern markets, visitors enjoy 75 acres of indoor/outdoor specialty shops, restaurants and garden center, with fruits, vegetables, meats, and gift products from across the state."

Not only is the farmer's market huge, but it also features other fun options such as unique restaurants and shops. It just might be the perfect place to take your mom this mother's day, whether she enjoys shopping, eating, cooking delicious meals, or all three!

3. Hike the trails at Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve.

If your mom enjoys getting outside for some fresh air, this might be the perfect spot to take her. It is just outside of Raleigh, located in Cary, North Carolina. It is by no means a huge road trip, as it is just minutes from Raleigh, but it is still a fun little getaway in the Raleigh area.

The Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve is peaceful, secluded, and filled with breathtaking views. You could load up your car with a blanket and a home cooked meal to enjoy once you get there.

Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve is described as:

"Filled with shade during the summer months and rich with color in the fall, Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve provides an easy, family-friendly way to escape to the outdoors in Cary."

For those of you whose mother enjoys walking and hiking in their free time, this beautiful nature preserve located right near Raleigh is certainly worth checking out.

Final Thoughts

It doesn't matter how much money you are able to spend on your mom this mother's day, or what kind of gift you can afford to buy her. What is truly important is that you show how much you love and care for her, and there are a plethora of meaningful ways to do so.

Even when I was a young girl and I couldn't afford to purchase an extravagent gift for my mother, I brought her breakfast in bed, created coupons for free hugs, and gave her a handmade card. These simple acts were even more meaningful than any store-bought gift.

Memories last far longer in someone's mind than material goods. So, instead of stressing about what to buy your mom this mother's day, focus on giving her a wonderful experience like some of the ones I have shared today.
