You might know New York City as the "Big Apple" or the "City That Never Sleeps", but it is a city that is loved for more than just its hustle.

In fact, there are many restaurants, coffee shops, museums, and other features to explore outside of the work life. That's what I want to focus on in this article today.

I remember when I visited New York City for the first time. It was the only time I ever visited, and I was a young kid, so I would love to go back again now that I am an adult in my 20's. I got to walk through Central Park, visit a huge two-story toy shop, and enjoy a giant dessert the size of my head with my family.

It was one of my favorite trips I went on as a kid, and I even got to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on broadway. Whenever I make it back to New York City, I hope to be able to explore the restaurants and coffee shops that are well-known for being the best of the best.

Until I make it back, I will have to stick to researching some of the New York City hot spots so that I'm well prepared to try out the most popular food places. Where better to start than with the first meal of the day - breakfast?

In this article, we will explore three of the best breakfast spots in New York City that come highly ranked. If you love breakfast like I do, you might want to consider checking these places out.

1. Guevara's

Guevara's is a place that currently has over a 4 star rating on Yelp, and most people are quite satisfied with their experience when they visit Guevara's. Located in Brooklyn, New York, Guevara's is known for their sweet pastries, fresh coffee, beautiful atmosphere, and even housewares and plants.

They open early and close late, and their interior design and decor is on point. They are open daily from 7 am - 6 pm, so you can easily grab some food or even a coffee before or after work. If you are looking for a fun and exciting atmosphere with sweet breakfast foods, Guevara's might just be the place for you. It's also worth noting that they are vegan friendly, which is perfect for those who live a plant-based lifestyle or don't eat / are allergic to dairy.

2. abcV

While the name of this eatery might look a little confusing, there is no arguing that abcV is highly recommended by many, specifically for their breakfast foods.

New York Mag describes abcV as:

"Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s meatless, veggie-saturated culinary vision, which includes an edifying selection of salads, protein shakes, fruit bowls, and legumes; all sorts of artful (and surprisingly filling) rice and noodle options; and what is arguably the finest breakfast service in this breakfast-mad town."

I love grabbing some fruit or a protein shake for breakfast after a hard workout in the morning, and it sounds like abcV would be a very satisfying option. If you like fruity or protein packed breakfast foods, abcV might be the perfect breakfast place for you to check out.

3. P.S. Kitchen

If you are a late riser looking to get some breakfast for lunch, P.S. Kitchen might be the perfect option. P.S. Kitchen is located in New York City, and they offer some delicious brunch options, including tofu scramble, corn muffins, and a delicious breakfast wrap. While they also have some traditional lunch options, P.S. Kitchen is a great place to get some savory brunch. Therefore, it might be worth checking out the next time you end up in the city.

Final Thoughts

New York City is packed with restaurants and coffee shops, many of which offer all kinds of different breakfast foods. Whether you enjoy pancakes, waffles, avocado toast, freshly brewed coffee, or bagels for breakfast, you are bound to find something that suits your taste buds.

The next time you visit the city, make sure to check out some of the popular shops, like the ones shared. You might just find your absolute favorite breakfast spot in the process.
