Nathan's Famous (namely for its Coney Island hot dogs) is stepping up its chicken sandwich game to compete with chains in the battle of the chicken sandwiches and Florida gets a taste in its new Miami location.

Nathan's Famous promises intense flavor with its two new additions, the Nashville Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich and Sticky, Spicy Grilled Chicken Sandwich.

It appears that Nathan's famous has been in the lab to create a superior chicken sandwich. With the help of a James Beard Award-winning chef, Nathan's created a hand-dipped menu featuring a proprietary savory batter used to create a flavorful array of chicken sandwiches.

Dark Meat

What will be different about these particular Nathan's chicken sandwiches? They will be made with boneless, skinless chicken thighs. This is unique to QSR and Fast Casual restaurants, but popular with chefs and foodies across the country.

I am so here for this and I'm ready to take a day trip to Miami just to try it. Any real foodie (possibly one who knows their way around a kitchen) swears that chicken thighs are superior to the chicken breast when it comes to flavor. Dark meat chicken is also more nutritious for you. If you don't believe me, listen to Dr. Oz:

"We continue to evolve our menu based on customer preference and feedback, and the two new chicken sandwiches are no exception,” states James Walker, Senior Vice President, Restaurants. “After a great deal of research and development, we found that the use of the chicken thigh gave our new sandwiches a flavor punch, offering a juicier and more intense flavor due to the dark meat. We believe the addition of the Nashville Hot Sauce and Koji Sticky, Spicy Sauce make these two sandwiches some of the most flavorful options in the industry.”

New Value Menu

The two new sandwiches are also featured on the new value menu that just launched this month, but only in select New York and Florida stores. The value menu contains items from the current menu, as well as new recipes, all between $4 and $7. The new sandwiches made with chicken thighs are offered for $7 each.

Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich features a chicken thigh hand-dipped in batter, fried and tossed with Nashville hot sauce, served on a buttered and toasted Turano roll with mayo and crinkle-cut pickle slices.

Sticky, Spicy Grilled Chicken Sandwich features a chicken thigh marinated overnight in Koji Sticky Spicy Sauce, served on a Turano roll, topped with slaw, Nathan’s own sticky, spicy sauce, green onions, and sesame seeds.

Nathan’s Famous will test the new value menu in the select New York and Florida stores. We are unsure which Florida stores will have the value menu available, but Nathan's Famous announced that it will launch at its newest location in Miami at 8946 SW 40th Street.

"For more than 100 years, Nathan’s Famous has been one of America’s top destinations for great food fast, and our goal with this new value menu launch is to make it accessible too,” states James Walker, Senior Vice President, Restaurants. “We’ve spent the past two years evolving the menu to focus on premium offerings that are memorable, craveable and Instagrammable. These new value menu items offer that same level of appeal, but at a lower price point, providing real value to our customers. Fans of the brand will see their favorites like the hot dog and hand-dipped corn dog, while also getting a chance to taste some new takes on our recent hand-dipped chicken menu evolution, as well as a new version of our famed NY Cheesesteak.”
