FLAGSTAFF CITY, AZ — The Coconino County Public Library branch at Flagstaff City is holding an event called "Thursday Night Book Club." It is a recurring event that will be held once a month on the second Thursday from August to October.
On August 12, 2021, the event will discuss a new book by Alka Joshi titled "The Henna Artist.” It is a book that tells a story about Lakshmi, a 17 years old girl that escapes from an abusive marriage and found her way to Jaipur. She then becomes a renowned henna artist that creates henna art for rich women of Indian higher-class society.
Lakshmi then has to face gossips about her that could destruct her reputation and her henna art business. Not only that, her husband finally finds her who unknowingly tracked her for the past few years together with a young girl that turns out to be Lakshmi's sister. Lakshmi then realizes that her livelihood in Jaipur, which she has built carefully faces the biggest threat possible.
Prospective participants could get a copy of The Henna Artists by contacting the Downtown Library Information Desk at 928-214-2331. This event aims at adult participants and starts from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Zoom. Visit this page for the link of the Zoom conference.
For September, the event will be on September 9 to discuss a book titled "Such a Fun Age," and for October on October 14, the book will be "The Lost Book of Adana Moreau."
